and satisfying. Located 43 stories high, Strato 550 restaurant offers creative
American fare and stellar downtown views.

Located on the 43rd floor of 1415 Louisiana, this sky-high restaurant and bar is Downtown’s best-kept secret. Open for lunch and happy hour only, it provides a refreshing escape from the office. Start with a spring wedge salad and follow it up with a Strato burger made from hand-ground brisket, all while enjoying a unique and captivating view of the city. For those in a hurry, there’s a $34 two-course business lunch option, which includes a choice of salad and a main dish of either roasted chicken or salmon (pork chops and New York strips are also available for an additional cost). You can finish off your meal with dessert for just $8 more.

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining with a small group of clients at Strato 550. As first impressions matter, I was pleased to find that Strato did not disappoint.

Starter options include grilled artichokes, chilled cauliflower soup, and charcuterie boards. You can enhance salads by adding a protein, such as chicken, fish, or shrimp. Other entree options range from lighter fare to heartier dishes, including scallops with lentils and Spanish chorizo ($23) or a filet mignon made from Texas beef at 44 Farms, served with roasted fingerling potatoes ($35).

In addition to lunch, the restaurant operates as a lounge from 4 to 7 PM. Diners can enjoy a selection of wine, beer, or cocktails while snacking on a limited selection from the lunch menu, which includes charcuterie boards.

Separate from the restaurant, Strato 550 also provides four meeting rooms suitable for groups of various sizes, with custom menus available.

Delighting in midweek power lunches, restaurants are seeing a resurgence in these events where business discussions are paired with a great meal. Since COVID, fewer people are coming into the office and into town, making these occasions a welcome reason to gather. After all, no one ever signed a major deal in a local donut shop.

Long live the power lunch!
