MAN AT HIS BEST
You can feel it. I know you can feel it. Can’t you? That tug in your gut whispering that 2026 cannot look like the last five years. Something in you is ready, hungry for a reset, a breakthrough, a second wind. If you are honest, you know it is not going to arrive with fireworks or a dramatic life event.
Real transformation in life hits differently, especially in a world shaped by economic uncertainty, shifting careers, and global instability from the U.S. to the U.K., Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and beyond. Rarely does it begin loudly but in a quiet decisive moment — one you cannot talk your way out of, outrun, or postpone.
Yet, the truth is simple: You can only change what you are willing to face. I like to break the word ‘change’ down to: Choose Happiness and Never Give Excuses! Change begins not tomorrow, not next quarter, and not after the next crisis or holiday season. It begins today, right now, where you are.
Do you know that it is easier to start where you are? Not where you are meant to be; not where you thought you would be by now; nor where other people think you should be. When you decide to hit the ‘reset’ button, something magical begins to happen. There is a stirring in your soul for new beginnings.
There is something powerful about taking the time to rewind, recharge, and reset. Power finds its way back firmly in your hands as permission from the world is no longer needed nor wanted. Experience fueled by resilience takes over - the ability to bend without breaking, recover without quitting, and rise without asking for permission.
“And suddenly you just know… it’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.” — Meister Eckhart
“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” — C.S. Lewis
Experience beats education at every turn in life. Have you noticed that whenever you apply for a job, one of the first questions asked is, “What experience do you have?”
Well, I write and speak from experience — not perfection, theory, or fantasy. I speak as someone who lived this truth, someone who learned from setbacks, complicated seasons, and cultural complexity.
There was a time when I admired success from a distance. I read about it, dreamed about it, and even planned for it, but to live it, I had to get painfully honest about how I showed up daily. An honesty that was uncomfortable, humbling, yet liberating. According to Thomas Jefferson - “Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom.”
What I learned is that my life began at the end of my comfort zone. Your life begins there too! My emotional maturity and lived experiences enabled me to confront life without flinching.
I am sure that you would agree that life does not care what you are doing when it hits from multiple angles at once — financially, emotionally, and relationally. But from those curve balls, guess what? You earned your stripes, endured the storms, and navigated loss, disappointment, and pressure that would have crushed your younger self.
That toughness? That bounce-back ability? That is your advantage, your strength! It confirmed that you are built for more. You can leverage your experience to launch yourself to greater heights. What are you waiting for?
“Do not wait; the time will never be ‘just right.’” — Napoleon Hill
Procrastination is seductive, and it is expensive. Five years can evaporate like a long weekend, leaving you in the same place you swore that you would not still be in 2025. Reflect on the year 2020. Are you where you thought you would be after surviving the COVID-19 pandemic?
From Houston to Johannesburg, London to Lagos, we all share the same challenges: stress, identity shifts, burnout, declining energy, and relentless expectations.
It is time to change direction and head for a new destination. Think of it like a GPS: did you reach your destination, or did you take a few wrong turns, hit a pothole or two, circle back, or remain parked?
Now, I laugh when I think back to when I came to a screeching halt. You know, when you look up and suddenly must slam on the brakes to avoid a crash and burn situation.
It was the moment that I had to take inventory of my life in the same manner as a new project or major investment, and it went something like this:
• What is the full cost of my lifestyle?
• What trials or patterns keep repeating, and what are they trying to teach me?
• Where is procrastination costing me momentum?
• Are my daily choices aligned with the values I claim?
• Have I built a life that supports the person I am now, not who I was 10 or 20 years ago?
• Am I financially resilient?
You see, reset brings about clarity, illumination. You get moving by not waiting for all the lights to be green. Your decisions are rooted in truth rather than habit or fear. Finally, you give yourself permission to come to a full stop or proceed with caution, as necessary.
2026 is your year to prioritize the Man in the Mirror. Your mind, body, and spirit are the engine, and everything else is cargo. Your greatest wins are still ahead of you, but you must rewind to recharge. Get unfiltered about your reality, so your truth is not diluted or convoluted. This provides steadiness, precision, and progress.
• Your emotional intelligence is now a superpower, your competitive edge.
• You understand patterns you once ignored.
• You no longer need permission or validation to live boldly.
• Your resilience has already been proven.
• And yes — you begin to write your best chapters.
“There is no greater journey than the one that leads you back to yourself.” — Rumi
The greatest revelations that starting where you are can teach you that:
• Purpose evolves
• Strength deepens
• Bounce-back power increases
• Setbacks sharpen your focus
• Comparison weakens your resolve
• Resilience is both muscle and mindset
And eventually, you become the person that you searched for because you released chaos, the failures, and expanded your identity. You did not need perfection. You just needed to rewind, recharge, and reset with honesty as your anchor and to stand in truth to rewrite your story.
As C.S. Lewis would say — “You are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream.”
As you step into 2026, ask yourself:
• What could my life look like if I stopped quitting on myself?
• What becomes possible when I use my setbacks as fuel?
• What version of me is waiting on the other side of courage?
Regardless of your gender, culture, ethnicity, or past, one truth is universal: Resilience is your rebirth. You have another chapter to write. Start where you are today and keep moving until your life reflects the person you have always known you could be.
And the next chapter of your life does not require perfection, only a reset.
